Essentials Packing List 

Sunscreen

The Maldives has a tropical climate, and the weather is hot and humid year-round. So you’ll need sunscreen to protect your skin from getting burned. It is an essential item to pack for your Maldives trip. It’s best to make sure to bring yours from home to save time and money. In Maldives, they will charge around $60 for a bottle of Sun Bum! The Maldives is home to beautiful coral reefs. So Remember, you should choose eco-friendly reef-safe sunscreen.

Board Brimmed Sun Hat

Carry a sun hat having a good coverage to protect yourself from the harmful UV rays. Don’t make a mistake of buying it from the local stores in Maldives because you would find it very expensive there and even less worthy in terms of sun protection.

A Maldives packing list isn’t complete without a pair of sunglasses. Pack a pair of high-quality polarized sunglasses with UV protection to protect your eyes from the sun’s harmful rays and save yourself from squinting all day.

In the Maldives, the power plugs and sockets are of type D (three round pins in a triangular pattern) or G (three rectangular pins in a triangular pattern). The standard voltage is 230 volts. Most hotel and resorts might provide you with an international adaptor, but it’s best to bring one yourself. 

Dry Bags

A dry bag will keep your electronics like camera, drone, mobile phone, money and other essentials dry. It’ll also be helpful while swimming, snorkeling, diving and also boat trips to nearby local islands and other beaches. Maldives is a Muslim country and if you are planning to take a tour of Male, which is it’s capital city you should dress conservatively covering your knees and shoulders. Pack a scarf, casual pants and top for this purpose.

Medication

It’s best to be proactive and pack whatever medicine you might need for your Maldives vacation in case you need it.  If you’re traveling with prescription medication, you should always carry the original prescription(s) if the customs authorities ask for proof.

Unless you are a blogger or need to stay online for work even during your vacations avoid bringing your laptop with you. A Maldivian vacation is meant to relax, unwind yourself and admire the dreamy islands. You shouldn’t be missing out on this.

Liquor and Alcohol

It is advised not to purchase liquor and alcoholic products from the duty free shops while en route to the Maldives. As these items will be confiscated upon arrival at the airport. However, liquor, beer and other such alcoholic beverages are available at all tourist resorts/hotels.

Warm clothes

Maldives is a tropical destination and also humid, so you should not be bringing warm or heavy clothes with you, not even on rainy days.

Heels or Stilettos

You will most probably wear flip flops all the time or even walk around barefoot. So leave those uncomfortable heels at the bay.

Hair dryer, Umbrella etc.

It will be provided by the hotel/resort.
